About Start Over Rover

Welcome to Start Over Rover, a non-profit, no-kill animal rescue and shelter in Hastings, Nebraska. Start Over Rover began simply as a group of friends who were known to rescue animals and nurture them in their own homes. In early 2011 this group of animal lovers knew a no-kill rescue was needed in our area. Today, Start Over Rover is here to rescue strays, relinquished pets, abused, neglected, or abandoned animals, puppy mill “cast offs”, and any other shelter animal whose “time is up”. These animals certainly start out “ruff”, but with a little support from you and a healthy new start from Start Over Rover, they can have a “purrfect” ending. In the beginning, we thought we would just see cats and dogs, but we have been able to help all kinds of animals, and we have even teamed up with Wild Life Rescue volunteers! We are run by a staff made up of all volunteers, so if you’re a hard-worker and LOVE animals, come into the building to fill out our volunteer application, or you can find it on this page!
